The Guide
Hell's Revenge by UTV: How the Tours Differ
Nearly every Moab UTV tour runs the same trail. The differences are in seats, age rules and how the price is counted.
One thing first: Hell’s Revenge is not in Canyonlands. It is a slickrock trail in the Sand Flats Recreation Area on the east edge of Moab, and UTVs are not allowed on the White Rim or any other road in the national park. People who come to Moab for Canyonlands often spend a second afternoon here, because driving a UTV over the sandstone fins above town is one of the things Moab is known for. The trail has been designated a National Recreation Trail.
The tour on this page
Epic 4X4 Adventures’ tour, in the booking box above, puts two people in their own UTV behind a guide on Hell’s Revenge and Fins N’ Things: steep petrified dunes, Echo Canyon and an overlook of the Colorado River. Morning and sunset departures run about 2.5 hours. It is priced per vehicle, from $260 for a two-seat UTV, and rated 5.0 from 1,645 reviews (checked October 2026). Licensed 16- and 17-year-olds may drive with a parent in the passenger seat; that rule differs from one operator to the next.

A quick way to compare: for a couple, two seats on the per-person U-drive tour ($89.20 each) cost less than the two-seat tour’s $260 for the vehicle, but that tour needs drivers of 21 or over. For a family of four, one four-seat vehicle at $395 for 3.5 hours, or four seats on a per-person tour, works out cheaper than two two-seaters. Moab Tour Company’s U-drive tour with dinosaur tracks sells 2-, 4- and 6-seat vehicles and passenger-only places, from $82 a person.
Before you book
The drivers’ minimum age is the detail that most often decides it: 21 with a valid licence on Moab Tourism Center’s tour, 18 on Moab Grand Tours’, and 16 with a parent on this page’s tour. Every operator asks for closed shoes and warns about steep drops; none of these are for anyone with back problems or a serious fear of heights. If you would rather someone else drove, the Island in the Sky 4x4 tours put you in the passenger seat inside Canyonlands itself, and the Arches and Canyonlands day covers both parks’ backcountry.

Moab UTV Tours: Questions
Where Hell's Revenge is, who can drive, and how the tours are priced.
No. Hell's Revenge is in the Sand Flats Recreation Area on the east edge of Moab, outside both national parks. UTVs and ATVs are not allowed on the White Rim Road or other roads in Canyonlands. To see Canyonlands' backcountry, take a guided 4x4 such as the Island in the Sky tours, where the guide drives.
It depends on the operator: 16 with a parent, 18, or 21. On the Epic 4X4 two-seat tour, licensed 16- and 17-year-olds may drive with a parent as passenger. Moab Grand Tours requires drivers to be 18 with a valid licence, and Moab Tourism Center 21. Passengers can usually be younger; check the listing.
From about $82 a person for a shared vehicle to $395 for a four-seat UTV of your own, as listed on Viator in October 2026. The tour on this page is $260 for a two-seat vehicle. Per-person and per-vehicle prices are not directly comparable: for two people, two per-person seats can cost less than a two-seat vehicle; for four, a single four-seat UTV is often the cheaper option.
No; the guide leads, and some operators talk you through it by headset. The listings call these tours beginner- or novice-friendly, with a safety briefing before you start. They also warn that Hell's Revenge has steep climbs and drops and is not for anyone easily frightened by heights.
Fins N' Things next door, Poison Spider Mesa, Hurrah Pass and the Shafer Trail into Canyonlands. Several UTV tours combine Fins N' Things with Hell's Revenge. The Shafer Trail and the White Rim are inside the national park, where UTVs are not allowed; see them on a guided 4x4 on the White Rim page.
Sunset for the light, morning for cooler temperatures in summer. Most Hell's Revenge operators run both. In July, with average highs around 100°F, the early slot is the comfortable one.
